Tips For Packing A Suitcase Efficiently
Are you currently preparing for an upcoming trip? If you answered yes to this question, there is a pretty good chance that you’re going to need a suitcase. Unfortunately, suitcases do not offer a whole lot of space. In order to ensure that everything fits perfectly, you’ll need to think outside of the box and solve the jigsaw puzzle for yourself. Thankfully, there are some things that you can do to get the most out of the space that you do have.
Make sure you provide yourself with plenty of time to pack for your trip. In other words, don’t leave your packing until the night before (or the morning before if you’re uber-crazy). Below, you will find tips for packing your suitcase as efficiently as possible.
Choose The Right Suitcase
First and foremost, you’ll want to choose the most appropriate suitcase for your travels. How long will you be away from home? How many articles of clothing will you need to bring? Figure out the answers to these questions first. The answers will make it much easier for you to choose the most suitable suitcase for your trip. If you’re going to be away from home for a short period of time,a smaller bag will do the trick. However, if you need additional items and will be away longer, you need a bigger suitcase with more space.
Create an itemized checklist
You can create itemized packing list to help you pack well every time and make sure you don’t leave anything behind on your way home. The two best we have found are courtesy of Squawkfox and The Art of Manliness.
Buy Travel Gear
At the same time, you should invest in the most appropriate gear for your trip. Most grooming accessories and hygiene products are available in travel sizes. Big bottles of shampoo are great for home use. However, when you’re going to be traveling, you should downsize. Mini-brushes and travel-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner are best. With smaller items, you’ll be able to keep more space in your suitcase free. In return, this space can be used for bigger and bulkier items. Also, make sure that you store bottles of shampoo and soap in zip-lock bags. This will help to ensure that the liquid does not spill out onto your clothing.
Awkward Items Should Go First
When you’re finally ready to pack your suitcase, you should make sure that the most awkward items go inside first. Pack items likes shoes, blow dryers, and purses around the outer perimeter, and work your way in. These items will generally consume more space than simple shirts or socks. By putting them inside first, you’ll be able to eliminate a headache in the future. Put them in the suitcase first and then work around these items.
Bundle Shirts
It is also a good idea to bundle shirts together. Sit all of the shirts together on the bed and then roll them up in a nifty little bundle. Packing your shirts in this manner will work exceptionally well, while also consuming much less space. Just remember that you may need to iron the shirts after you’ve arrived at your destination.
Wear Bulkier Items
There is a good chance that you’re going to want to take bulky items with you. It is best to keep then out of your luggage. If you’re going to carry a bulky, heavy coat, it is best to wear it onto the plane. This will ensure that your bulkiest items do not consume so much space. Instead, you’ll have far more room to play around with inside of your luggage.
